Brand New You Mastectomy Boutique has been serving the specials
needs of Breast Cancer Survivors in Thunder Bay and region since
2001. I recognize that understanding and compassion go hand in hand
with providing the utmost personalized service to these women.
My name is Lori Vanhapelto and I have
been a Certified Fitter with the Assistive Devices Program, a
division of the Ministry of Health, since 1991. I received my
certifications from both Airway Surgical and Amoena. Since that
time, I have also attended courses covering the latest in products
available. As well as having access to the newest breast prostheses,
I now carry four different lines of post-mastectomy bras. These bras
come in many colours and sizes from AA to H.
Before being
fitted for a breast prosethesis and a post-mastecomy bra, a
comfortable camisole is available that can be worn leaving the
hospital. It comes with two fiberfill forms that can be put into the
pockets of the camisole to give you shape and pouches to hide any
drainage devices. It is very discreet and can be worn right up until
the time of a fitting can be done for a prosethesis and bra.

As well as
prostheses and bras, I also carry post-mastectomy swimwear. These
bathing suits have an opening on the sides of each cup to
accommodate a swim form. Amoena carries a wide range of suits that
are available both in the spring and fall with a wide variety of
colours and styles. There is also a swim form that is available to
accommodate your bathing suit that can be used in both salt and
chlorinated water.
In recent months
I have been working with Dr. Sanjay Azad, the new plastic surgeon in
Thunder Bay. Following reconstructive surgery, it is very important
to wear compression products. I have recently takea a one day
fitting coarse on the measuring and fitting of bras, girdles and
facila garments that should be worn after surgery.
My office is out
of my home. I have a bright clean fitting room which is off a warm
inviting rec room where a fire place will keep both yourself and any
family member or friend comfortable. If you cannot come to me, I can
easily come to you. I also offer home visits. All services are
private and by appointment
